  1. Election Commission of India celebrated 13th National Voters’ Day (NVD) on 25 January, 2023 across India to spread awareness about the importance of voting, and participating in the electoral process. This day is celebrated to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. The theme of the year 2023 is, “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure”. 
  2. National Tourism Day is annually observed across India on 25 January to raise awareness and promote tourism for India’s economic and financial growth and development.
  3. The New Goa Manohar International Airport (MIA) won the prestigious ‘Best Sustainable Greenfield Airport’ award under Aviation Sustainability and Environment at ASSOCHAM 14th International Conference-cum-Awards for Civil Aviation 2023 at New Delhi. 
  4. Odisha CM, Naveen Patnaik inaugurated an ‘International Craft Summit’, the first-of-its-kind craft summit to feature pioneer craftspersons, culture, and art enthusiasts in Jajpur.
  5. A book titled ‘India’s Knowledge Supremacy: The New Dawn’ written by international Indian expat, Dr Ashwin Fernandes was released globally and launched by Hon’ble Minister of Education of India Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, at an event at Dr Ambedkar International Centre.
  6. Askan Police Station in Ganjam district of Odisha was awarded number one police station during DGSP/IGSP conference held on 20 January, 2023 in New Delhi.
  7. The fourth International Trade Fair of Millets and Organics Products began on 20 January, 2023 at Tripuravasini in Bengaluru.
  8. Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri, a retired judge from the Supreme Court, has been appointed by the Delhi High Court as Administrator to manage the use of funds for the next ISSF Shooting World Cup in 2023.  
  9. The Indian Navy carried out a six-day-long largest biennial tri-services amphibious exercise, AMPHEX 2023 from 17 to 22 January, 2023 along with the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
  10. Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, R K Mathur launched the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) in the Union Territory, with both hill councils of Kargil and Leh welcoming the initiative.
  11. The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has tied up with Kolkata-based VFS Capital Limited to extend loans to the MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) and SME sector.
  12. As per the statement of Pontsho Maruping, Chairperson of the South African Council for Space Affairs, the launch of world’s first agriculture-focused satellite, Agri SAT-1/ZA 008 is expected to generate over USD 100 million in revenue for South Africa.
  13. The three-time champion Netherlands defeated Chile’s debutants by a score of a record-breaking 14-0 to qualify as the first team to the quarterfinals of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup.
  14. Charaideo Moidams is India’s nomination for UNESCO’s world heritage site status in the cultural category.
  15. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh announced that Himachal Pradesh targets to beome the first green energy state by the end of 2025.
  16. On 24 January 2023, Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi (B. V. Doshi), a renowned Indian Architect and Padma Awardee, passed away in Ahmedabad, Gujarat at the age of 95.
